Pumpkins and Gourds

I finally got these cute little pumpkins finished. I think I made like 15. A few too many, I realized as I was in the middle of sewing them. My kids were ecstatic to say the least, because we don't have ANY decorations in our house. They are still in the boxes in the garage until we figure out what we are going to do and where we are going to really be living.
So to have some sort of decoration is just so exciting to them.
(how sad is that) So I told them that they could put them wherever they wanted too!

I did a few Halloween ones while I was at it!

Then for FHE the kids wanted to paint these gourds that
Kenzi found for all of them.
As you can see Kali didn't get around to painting hers.
I always think that it is going to be such a fun time,
then when we are in the middle
of it I wonder what I was thinking!

What a mess paint is!
Not only were the kids a mess, so was the kitchen and the sink.
Don't forget the bathtub because
there was no other way to get all of this paint
off him!
They had a blast and that is all that matters!
Good thing I made them take their shirts off,
that could have been ugly!

What a bunch of happy kids! They are lucky to have someone as creative as you looking out for them.

This is my first time to your blog, so I don't know the background, but it sounds like you are in a bit of transience. Here is something your kids might enjoy once you are able to plant and grow real pumpkins: carve the kids names or initials in the young, growing gourds. At harvest time, the children will have personalized pumpkins.

There are pictures of my clumsy efforts on our family blog. The entry is titled, "I Don't Know About These Nicknames", and is at http://sqwahr.com/2008/09/i-dont-know-about-these-nicknames.html

Thanks for sharing your happiness.

You are either a really great mom, or a crazy lady! Definitely a great mom. I stay far away from any kind of painting. Your pumpkins turned out cute. I saw those on Heather's blog and have been meaning to give them a try.

Volleyball starts tonight...I'm going to miss you being there!

You are super mom to do that with 5kids! I know I couldn't do it with 1. I want some pumpkins too. You are so good. They turned out so cute. Koops makes me laugh so hard. His smile is great. He called me today at work and talked my ear off for a good 12 mins. I don't think you even knew he called. It really made my day. He was going off about something... who knows.

Boy, you're right! Painting is a mess, but the kids love it and it is always worth it.

Great idea, I like the sewing part, I think I'll skip the paint part. Did you stuff them with newspaper?
