A day with Gram and Gramp

We had a great day yesterday!
Grammie came up to visit for a few days.
Kenzi and Gram had fun making sugar cookies.

While they were making cookies,
Grandpa suprised us and showed up.
He had to pick up some tools here in Flagstaff.
So he spent the afternoon and went home this morning at 4:30am.
Last night Kyron took this picture of Grandpa
playing guitar hero.
They thought he was funny playing it.
He did pretty good.
Kyron and Kason had to show off their
expertise playing though.

Kenzi sure has enjoyed having Grammie all to her self.

She had been so excited about it all week.

My poor Dad had to sleep on the couch because

Kenzi was going to sleep with Gammie and Grandpa was NOT allowed.

She said next time he could sleep in her bed with Grammie

but not this time!

Bus ride

The boys have the choice of either me taking them and picking them up everyday OR riding the bus. I told them that it was their choice. Kason is all for riding the bus. Kyron, not so sure. The only thing is that it comes at 7:40am. I know it isn't that early, but when you've been use to starting school at 9 am it is a little rough. So this morning Kason set his alarm and was ready by 7:30. Kyron was definitely taking his time so that they would MISS the bus. He asked a million questions...
  • how will they know where to pick us up?
  • how will they know we go to Kinsey Elementary?
  • how will my teacher know I am riding the bus?
  • how will I find Kason?
  • how will they know where to drop us off?
  • what if we get on the wrong bus?
  • will you be waiting for us?
  • will the bus driver know that we are on there?
  • where do we go after she drops us off at school?
  • what if I can't find my class?
  • and on and on and on

Kason said to Kyron, "if you don't hurry up, I am going to leave and ride the bus without you!"

Kyron made me write a note to his teacher telling her that he would be riding the bus today. Also a note to the bus driver with his name and address.

It is so funny to me how kids are so different. Kyron probably didn't sleep a wink last night. He gets so worried about the littlest things. Funny, you'd think that it would be the little brother worried. Not in this family. Kason was ready and excited about riding the bus.

On their first day of school here Kyron said, "I just wish Kason could be in 3rd grade with me." Kyron doesn't need anyone but his brother. Good thing they are so close. They wouldn't know what to do without each other. So sweet really.

Progress

We are STILL waiting for the movers to come pick up all these boxes.
They are just taking up space.
So until they get here this is what our front room looks like!
More boxes with wrapping paper in them.

This is our backyard!
The kids love it.
They play for hours just throwing rocks
and carving sticks with their knives.
We don't have a fence so that's a little scar.y for me
because all Koop wants to do is be outside.

It rained a little yesterday.

Yesterday was the boys first day of school.
They were really nervous about it.
They ended up loving it and making a few friends.
Every Friday they get out at 1:00pm
so they think that is great.
Kason and Kyron talked to Kyle on the phone the other day
for a few hours and that seemed to make them forget
they were in a new place for awhile.
Things are going good and we seem to be finally
back in a little bit of a routine.

We have...

  • made it to Flagstaff
  • unpacked a million boxes
  • weeded through all our junk (again)
  • TV and Internet finally!
  • the kids registered in school
  • played in the mud
  • cleaned and cleaned
  • made 2 DI trips
  • lots of garbage to be picked up
  • noisy barking dogs next door that Kooper and Kenzi can't get enough of

We had a rough first couple of nights. It is really sad to see your kids cry and cry. They are getting better a little more each day. Kenzi hopes that nobody moves into our house so that we can move back soon (haha)! The boys have been using their pocket knives outside in the woods, so they think that is cool. We are happy to finally be done with the whole move thing. We are so missing our friends and family though. I don't love renting but this is a nice little house that will be fine for now. Just wanted to say Thanks for all the help, treats, gifts and food the last few days before we left. We appreciate it so much!
